We are now looking for a Senior Expert for our clients project in Espoo for a fixed-term employment.
As a Senior Expert, you will play a key role in the planning, design, and implementation of control room engineering, human–machine interface (HMI) design, and human factors engineering (HFE) solutions in power plant projects. You will contribute throughout the entire project lifecycle, from requirements definition and concept development to implementation, validation, and final reporting.
The role involves close cooperation with internal and external stakeholders, and active participation in multidisciplinary project teams delivering high‑quality, safe, and usable solutions for power plant environments.
Main tasks include:
Act as a senior specialist in control room engineering, HMI design, and human factors engineering within modernization and new development projects.
Participate in and contribute to projects across the full lifecycle, including:
Requirements definition and clarification
Design principles and concept development
Detailed design and implementation support
Verification, validation, and usability evaluation
Documentation and final reporting
Take ownership of requirements and design principles, ensuring traceability, quality, and compliance with applicable standards and guidelines.
Design and evaluate control room layouts and HMI solutions with strong focus on usability, human performance, and operational safety.
Work closely with project management, I&C engineering, automation suppliers, operators, and other stakeholders.
Support and mentor less experienced engineers and specialists in the team when needed.
Contribute to the continuous development of ways of working, methods, and best practices within the discipline.
We expect:
Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in I&C engineering, automation engineering, or another relevant technical field.
Solid professional experience in:
Control room engineering, HMI design, automation engineering, or human factors engineering
Engineering projects in the process or energy industry
Ability to work independently and take responsibility for complex expert‑level tasks.
Excellent documentation and reporting skills; accuracy and systematic working style are essential.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with end‑users.
Proficient Finnish and English language skills are mandatory for successful performance in the role.
Strong understanding of engineering design work and ability to operate effectively in multi‑stakeholder project environments.
Proven experience in process industry automation system HMI design; experience from power plants is highly valued.
Familiarity with human factors engineering (HFE) concepts, requirements, and their practical application in industrial environments.
Strong interest in usability and human‑centered design, with motivation to improve operator performance and system usability.
Safety‑first mindset with safety culture thinking embedded in daily work and design decisions.
Knowledge of nuclear power plant processes is considered an advantage
